Marco’s Mazes: Yeti 3D 0.025 and iPac 3D

I’ve neglected to post about these over the past little while, so it’s about time I rectify that. Marco Georgini has been busy with his Yeti 3D engine port to the iPhone and iPod Touch. First is an update of Yeti 3D to version 0.25. This release takes some time to address the ammo issue, as fallen enemies will now drop ammo crates — or cubes, rather. This should extend gameplay to some degree in this still very alpha first-person shooter. It has also received a bit of a facelift in the form of a newly designed and much slicker-looking control pad that brightens when a button is pressed. It seems like a small thing but it does make a noticeable difference when playing.

Next on the list is a spinoff game entitled iPac 3D. The graphics are pretty much the same as Yeti 3D, enemies and all, but the goal, as you might expect, is to navigate the maze and grab all of the cubes while avoiding the bad guys. There are a number of levels with different mazes to keep you entertained, too. I can only assume that being a first-release, this is really only a proof of concept rather than what the final game is going to look like — assuming he plans to continue with it. Ultimately it would be nice to see a more Pac Man-like environment with actual ghost monsters, dots power pellets, and less dungeon-like maze textures.

Both of these are available in Installer on Marco’s repository (http://www.marcogiorgini.com/iPhone/plist.xml) and can be added to your Repo.sc custom repo.
