Picomemo Is a Tiny Post-It for Springboard
by Eric March on February 21, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Just in case you ever wanted to leave someone a short note on your iPod Touch or iPhone — a really short note — here comes Picomemo to allow you to do just that. Picomemo uses the notification icon flags normally seen in the mail and Installer apps to set custom memos. The catch? It can only display 3 characters at most on the home screen, which means you have to tap on the application to see the full message if you’re interested in displaying anything more than “OMG.” The app is still in its alpha stages however, so it’s possible that this could mature into an actual stickynote-type application that lets you leave real memos on your springboard. In case you aren’t picturing this, click on the source below for an action-packed video.
Picomemo is available through Installer on the a.k.a. repository (akamatsu.org/repo.xml)

EDIT: up to 5 letters

I think that might depend on the letters used. In the video, the word “memo” is ellipsed (”M…O”) which means either it can only do 3 letters max, or it can do up to 5 letters only if you use skinny characters (the letter I, the number 1, etc.) due to the proportional system font.

good point! Add a screenshot because I thought that this was like a sticky in the corner of your screen but was just a badge saying something.

To be honest, the screenshot didn’t do me any good — I had no idea what I was looking at when I saw it.
it was only when I watched the video that I knew what to look for.
