Marathon Touch Project Status
by Eric March on February 20, 2008 at 3:21 pm
For those of you who haven’t checked up on Matt’s Blawg of Dewm lately, I thought I’d provide a bit of an update on the progress of his port of the classic Bungee game Marathon to the iPod Touch.
Marathon Touch Status:
Engine: Not so Stable, but crashes during music.
Controls: Tap radar around to move. Tap an inventory item to cycle it
( only way to change guns). Tap health bar for use button. Tap armor
bar for menu. Tap the playing area to shoot.
Audio: Plays sfx, but no apparent music yet. Double home key overlay
crashes game.
Compatibility: Runs without any apparent slowdown, yet Marathon
Durandal and Infimty I do not support yet.
Release: Give me a week or two to package it up with the M1A1 pack
into repo form. Please, email me at tehpwnzormatt@gmail.com if you
want this hosted at your repo.
Before I get impatient and make my own.
Looks like he’s progressing nicely with the project. Don’t expect a stable beta release for another week or so, like he said. However, if you’re itching for a bit of a taste, then I’ve got a little treat for you lot: I’ve just finished work on the first music track. It’s taken me a while due to obligations here and elsewhere, but it’s finally done. It is a remake of the third track from the original soundtrack, called Fat Man. It is based on the original, but diverges pretty significantly. Presented here is a hi def version of the tune (which may have its bitrate reduced and format changed for performance and size considerations in the final game.) Have a listen and let me know what you think in the comments!
