32GB iPod Touch in Canada | How about the iPhone?

If you reside a little higher up north – the colder parts of the world – like I do, you’ll know by now that we usually need to wait for products to arrive here days, sometimes even weeks, months, and at times years after they’ve arrived in the United States. Just think iPhone…
Well, at least we won’t have to wait months – let alone years – for the 32giger, folks!
The 32GB iPod Touch will be available to Canadians at retail stores such as Futureshop and Best Buy as soon as February 22nd!
Looks like we’ll be stuck paying $499.99 for these suckers for now. But don’t forget about that price drop (see story) that we’re anticipating within the next couple of months! If you’re hurtin’ for cash, maybe wait it out a couple months and save yourself $100!
Or, go ahead and pre-order yours today!
Here’s a little clip from Futureshop:
Releases 22 Feb/08. The best just got a whole lot bigger. Apple managed to cram twice as much storage into what’s already the coolest gadget on the block – the iPod Touch. Now with 32GB of storage, you can enjoy more music, more video, and more images than ever before. It’s also got the much-revered 3.5” Multi-Touch screen, integrated Wi-Fi and host of useful apps to play with – but you already knew that.
Sorry my fellow Canadians! – Still no word on when we’ll be getting them iPhones up in here. The best we’ve got is this customer service e-mail sent in by Curtis over at Gizmodo on January 24th, 2008. It reads:
Rogers is actively working with Apple to launch the iPhone in Canada as soon as possible and will be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in Canada.
Well, just four more days, lads! (albeit you can order your 32GB iPod Touch from the Canadian Apple Store Online if you really don’t feel like waiting – but expect to pay a hefty fee).

Hey, at least we get free shipping! I mean, hell, it’s the least they can do.
So, that’s only $9.34 short of $600 after Canadian taxes! Cool! ha ha ha…
I’ll pass, thank you.

I did pick mine up at the Apple Store. And yes, the wallet did cry a little.
I couldn’t wait though. The buyer I had lined up for my 16 gig wanted it Saturday, so I hadta do it. Oh well. It’s only an extra $20.
As for the iPhone — there are places you can get them unlocked. Canada Computers in Mississauga (Britannia & Mavis) had one left for $550, but it has since been sold. I don’t know if they’re getting more. It was only an 8-gigger though.
