One Month In: A Report Card

by Eric March on February 14, 2008 at 6:29 pm

A+On January 14th, 2008, Jody started this blog on WordPress.com with a mission to present the latest and greatest word on the iPod Touch scene to the masses. Several days later he sent me a private message on iPod Touch Fans to ask if I would like to join the fray, and I agreed. Since then the blog has had its ups and downs, we’ve changed layouts, got our own domain name, switched to a dedicated server, changed layouts again — and again — spruced up the graphics, and generally spent a great deal of time doing what we could to make this into the best iPod Touch blog we could. It has been an interesting, fun, and sometimes frustrating ride to say the least.

Today marks something of a milestone, that being our one month anniversary. It’s not much, I know, but when I look at the numbers, I see that the growth has been fantastic! By way of example, here is where we stand at the time of this writing:

Age: 31 days
Blog Posts: 104 (including this one) - avg. 3.35 posts/day
Total site hits as of 02/14/08 @ 6:30pm: 47,588 - avg. 1,535 hits/day
RSS subscribers: 31
E-Mail feed subscribers: 3
Affiliates: 12
Returning visitors: ~290/day

For a blog just entering its second month of existence, that’s pretty amazing! Of course, it’s all you folks — our awesome readers — who have made this place as popular as it is, and who keep us working to bring you the news and improve the blog, and for that, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, which is a pretty appropriate place to thank you from on this day in particular. You guys rock.

Here’s to hoping we can look back from our one year anniversary and marvel at how small we seemed by comparison.

Edit - Jody’s addition:

Hey, great post Eric! This is fantastic news. Lets aim for 100,000+ views for next month’s round up!

Also, I just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a great Valentines day! Tell us all about it in the comments section if you’re feeling up for it. We’d love to hear what you planned for your ladies/gentlemen! ;)

Here’s to another month of success. Cheers. :)

Well, make that RSS subscribe 1 :) I’m adding a news section in Repo Source’s forums for all sorts of iPod Touch news, and guess what? TUAW and engadget can wait until I figure out how to filter thier info to just iPod Touch only stuff! You’re my number source! :D
You can expect it to pop up as soon as the next few hours!

    Cheers :)

    @ Andy Huang

They have some Yahoo pipes thing where you can filter their sites by keyword. They did this for the iPhone launch because a lot of people were getting fed up by so much Apple related posting. If you search for the post with the link in Engadget, than you can just modify the tags in the link they provided with iPod touch or something along those lines.
