iAno; Always Have A Piano Available… In Your Pocket. Now Available!

Here is what he had to say:
See it in action at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycIjt-ykWRo
Features are:-
- Multi-touch. Up to five keys playable at once for complex chords.
- Multi-sampled, so each key is a real piano sample.
- Easy change between octaves, and can start at C or F key.
- 4 Octave.
- Animated keys really look like they are being pressed.Future features I’m working on:-
- Stereo 88 key multi-sampled grand piano. This will require finding a sample CD that will legally allow me to do this (!), and using MP3s instead of Wavs (which is pretty tricky on the iPhone at the moment).
- The old 1.1.3 compatability issue. Currently tested on 1.1.1
- Adding some built-in instructions just in case people can’t work out how to use it…
- Finding some nice repository to host it for me.Should be available for download pretty soon, however.
This sounds like it’ll be great. Best of luck adding all the new features and releasing the final product!
Updates (11:17am EST): (Be sure to click ‘Read more’ for updates, download link and repo!)
On second glance, I see MooTheCow finished this application earlier this morning! Here’s what he had posted:
Fantastically, I’ve solved all the problems, and even made it better (which is only for the beta testers as the rest of you know no different). Now you can properly run your finger around the keys to play a scale. It’s looking and sounding pretty good!
So I’ve just sent the Zip off to ModMyIFone, who have graciously accepted to host it. It’s up to them now, so you can stop spamming me to “release it”, and I can relax a bit. Since I put that YouTube video up I seem to have spent every waking hour on this!
Beta-testers, thanks for all your help and suggestions. I will be adding some of these to the list of “Future Features” on the website.
I’m also really looking forward to seeing / hearing what you guys can do with the app, so if you can find somewhere on the Net to post a video (YouTube obviously) or MP3 of your tunes then I’ll link to it from the iAno site. So far 4500 people have watched me play chopsticks from a distance of about 15cm, which I find hilarious! You too can share in this experience!

Hey, I played the piano about 8 - 10 years ago. Was in piano lessons and all. I guess I was pretty good back then.. Can’t really remember much. :p
I wish I would of stuck with it. I love the piano. I have a keyboard, but I hardly ever use it because I’m not all that good!
Hmm, I’d much rather learn the guitar anyway. I think I will go in for guitar lessons soon enough.

By the way, Andrew, don’t forget to rate the story 4 or 5 stars if you like it!

I wish I’d been able to take piano lessons when I was younger — considering my musical inclinations, it would have been pretty sweet. Cool app though!

Bummer! I can’t get this darn thing to work on my 1.1.3!… Everything goes well, except, no sound. What a drag!

Thanks Andrew. I’ve always had my Sound Effects turned to “Both”, so this isn’t the issue, unfortunately.

Hey i dont have sound effects ?
February 14th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Neither do I, fernand.
I wish I could tell you how to fix that issue… You did of course turn on “sound effects” in your general iPod settings, right?
Anyway, sorry fernand!
Please, do let me know if you figure out the issue!
