Flash IS Coming to iPhone (and Touch?)

Well. I guess the debate I spoke about earlier is being put to rest sooner rather than later. According to GearLive’s unimpeachable sources, the main thing that has been holding Flash support back on Apple’s mobiles has been business negotiations, not questionable horsepower, and evidently, those negotiations have passed and Flash is headed to the small screen very soon.
We’ve been waiting for Flash support to hit the iPhone ever since…well…it launched. We’ve had to make do without Flash for almost eight months, and YouTube even had to convert a bunch of their catalog to H.264 in order for the service to be enjoyed on the iPhone. Well, we’ve just got word from a reliable source that Flash support is on its way to the iPhone, and it should be coming very, very soon. Speculating a bit further on our own, we are guessing that it would be pretty convenient for Flash support to be introduced alongside the iPhone SDK, wouldn’t you say? Now, we know that there isn’t much information here, but you also know how strong our sources are too - Flash on the iPhone is coming, just take our word for it, okay?
EDIT: We already have had a couple people ask about the supposed battery and CPU issues that were holding Flash back from being included on the iPhone in the first place. From what I am hearing, it was a complete fabrication. Flash has not yet made it to the iPhone solely due to business negotiations. As we said, it is now on it’s way!
There is still no official word from either Adobe or Apple as yet — what, and ruin the surprise? — but the suggestion that such an announcement could parallel the SDK certainly seems appropriate enough; Steve is running a One More Thing deficit since MacWorld ‘08. This could balance the books.
Presumably, Flash support for the iPod Touch will be a given, but the real question is: How much will Apple soak us for it?

It’s interesting to say the least, and good that it’s on its way — but I will reserve my judgment on whether or not it’s I’m happy about it until I see what Apple is going to charge us for it.

WOW this is really breaking news! I think a mobile flash player will open up so many possibilities. Apple better not charge for it because its more of a system upgrade rather than a new feature/app.

It’s also Adobe’s property, so if Apple charges for it I’ll be quite put out. The more I think about it though the more I realize that if anyone is going to charge for it, it would almost have to be Adobe, as Apple doesn’t have the rights to do so, and it’s unlikely Adobe would want to charge for it, seeing as A) It’s free on every other supported platform, and B) It’s counterintuitive to Adobe’s mission with Flash.
