A New Tetris - Finger Swiping Takes Over On-Screen Buttons

Now this sounds like much more fun than the older Tetris we were provided with months ago!
Posted by the big guy himself:
Okay gang, I’ve got a real treat for you this time. Tetris, the timeless classic, throw in an iPhone (or iPod Touch!) and you’ve got a whole lot of potential. So what makes this iteration of Tetris special? Finger swipes!
Instead of messing around with small onscreen buttons, you get to use the entire screen as a button! Just take your finger and swipe anywhere on the screen to move the block!
Swipe left to move the block left, swipe right to move the block right, and swipe up (towards the top of the screen) to rotate. That’s all there is to it!
This makes it much easier to control and enjoy the game. Also, remember that this is just the very first version, I plan on making the touch/gesture recognition a lot more intuitive in future updates, so stay tuned for that!
Of course, the game also comes with all the classic features of a modern Tetris game. All with the quality you’ve come to expect from us!
…
As with all of our apps, this game allows you to post your high scores on our online high score board!. Not only can you see your ranking from your iPhone after you submit it, but your record will be permanently added to our database of high scores, viewable right here on the site for all to see!
How high on the list can you get??
Updates:
Just this morning, Kyle has released some updates for this newly released app! Here is what he had to say:
You asked for it, now here it is!
That’s right, Tetris version 1.2 is here, head over to installer and pick it up!Just what do we have in store for you now?
Check out the full update list:
- Game saves (see below for details)
- New control scheme (drag instead of swipe)
- Full in-game pause menu
- Better collision detecting
- “Second chance” piece landings
- Visual enhancements (status bar color and frame animations)
- Tweaked scoring rules
- Fixed line-clearing glitch
- Fixed all other reported glitches
- And more!
We are very proud to announce these exciting features for you, our visitors.
Tetris 1.2 includes a full game save function which allows you to continue the same game for as long as you want! All you have to do is access the game’s new in-game pause menu. In the bottom left corner of the screen you’ll notice a menu button (in place of the old pause button). This gives you the option to exit and save your progress, as well as to exit without saving or even start a new game.
We have also completely reworked the control scheme. People gave us feedback and we listened. So the swipe-to-move controls are now completely deprecated, and you can use a much more comfortable “drag” control in its place. This makes the game much easier and more enjoyable to play. Consult the in-game instructions for more on these new controls (”how to play” button on the title screen).I’m very happy with how many people are getting excited about this game and giving me valuable feedback for its improvement. This update is for you, thanks and keep up the good work!
As always, let me know what you think!!
