The following information was possible thanks to macrumorslive.com and engadget.com.
- Today marks the 200 day anniversary since the iPhone has been shipping. Jobs is pleased to announce that they’ve sold over 4 million iPhones to this day. That is approximately 20,000 iPhones every single day.
- First quarter shipping, iPhone has got 19.5% of U.S. SmartPhone market (2nd behind RIM).
- iPhone users will be presented with some new features later on today. These features include Maps with location, Webclips, Customize home screen, the ability to SMS multiple people at once, and Lyrics. (all which are already possible with a jailbroken 1.1.2 iPhone/iPod Touch.
- Webclips (website bookmarks on your home screen) will remember where you zoomed/panned to. You can create up to 9 of these.
- iPhone has added chapter options and language capability in iPod mode.
- The software update will be available today as a free update to all existing iPhone users, unlike the one you are about to hear about next for the iPod Touch…
- Apple Inc. is literally making all iPod Touch users PAY for the apps that are already available on the iPhone (Mail, Maps, Weather, Notes, and Stocks). Can you believe this? How much, you ask? $20.00. (The sad thing is, all of these, and so much more, are available for download through multiple sources with a jailbroken 1.1.2 firmware iPod Touch/iPhone). I won’t be buying this anytime soon.
- The iPod Touch/iPhone SDK will be released some time next month. This will present iPod Touch/iPhone users with many more applications/games/widgets.
